HEGEMONY-describes the situation where one system or outlook has become

     the predominate way of doing or seeing things. Sometimes this can be a

     good thing, as in the mass acceptance of the rule of law. Sometimes it can

     be a bad thing, as in the take-over by capitalism, to the exclusion of any

     other alternative socio-economic systems.
